    I am from Texas and my mom is from Mexico so I grew up eating fresh flour tortillas and I know good Tex mex food. This is the best Tex mex style taqueria in New Haven. Not as good as the taquerias in San Antonio, but by far the best I have tried since moving to New England a few years ago.

    Not a chipotle style place, nor is it like the taco trucks on long wharf (best truly Mexican food (not Tex mex) in New England) but this place is perhaps someplace in between. Their flour tortillas are made fresh and are so delicious. I always get black bean soft tacos since those are the most similar to the refried bean and cheese soft tacos I grew up eating for breakfast at the local taqueria.

    I don't know what's up with the negative reviews. I can only assume people thought it was going to be like a chipotle chain and found it is a hole in the wall taqueria.

    Also, note that they also have a much larger menu than what is displayed on their menu boards-- just ask for a paper menu and there is everything from fajitas, enchiladas, etc.

    Try it out! It is really good!

    I used to be a regular customer of this place when I was a teenager finishing high school. I especially liked their tacos, used to order delivery but ended up being too expensive and the delivery service was awful at the time. This was between 2003-2004.

    Nostalgia kicked in and I ordered through grubhub. With the mostly negative reviews of cold food and late delivery, I lucked out and got my food in 20 minutes and it was still warm. The tacos tasted the same; I always enjoyed the steak tacos, but didn't remember it being so greasy. The quesadilla was okay, but the salad was disgusting. I'm pretty sure you don't serve salad hot?? How are these guys even in business this long unless people in CT see mediocrity and trash as a delicacy. I don't even think drunks and stoners with the munchies would want this stuff.

    I would give no stars. Came 1.5 hours late, the guacamole looks like old baby food mush. The food came cold, horrible horrible place. Avoid it!

    Today was the last day I will order from this place.  Food arrived an hour late AND COLD.  RESTAURANT AND DRIVER  RUDE.

    Just ordered from Fresh Taco on GrubHub and my order was delivered earlier than expected, so I was pretty excited to get my "grub" on! I ordered a couple of things off their menu, some tacos, nachos and a quesadilla, which these things were ok, not the best, but ok. I also ordered an order of jalapeño poppers... what I received was not jalapeño poppers! I received something that after examining their menu over and over I couldn't find, I think I received a couple of extremely over cooked fried oysters or some type of shellfish. All I know is it was extremely smelly and not very appetizing! I called fresh taco and was greeted by nastiness when I described what I received, they were unwilling to help in any way, this is the most disappointing part of the whole experience, I don't think I'll be ordering from them again.
